Born into a family of musicians, Benjamin Zwick discovered his passion for music at an early age. He began clarinet lessons at just five years old, guided first by his father, Daniel-Pierre Zwick, and later by Vitalij Vosniak and Eugenio Steiner. His deep connection to the clarinet has remained a constant throughout his career.
In 2008, he began his Bachelor studies in Classical Music at the Zurich University of the Arts with Professor Elmar Schmid, graduating in 2011. During his studies, he developed a profound fascination for conducting, which soon became an essential part of his artistic path. He went on to complete a Master’s degree with Clarinet as his principal subject and Orchestral Conducting as his secondary focus, graduating with distinction.
From 2020 to 2024, Zwick refined his skills in advanced studies in Orchestral Conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts with Christof Brunner, Johannes Schlaefli, and Iwan Wassilevski. He completed the Master of Advanced Studies with the highest possible grade, with distinction.
Today, Benjamin Zwick serves as conductor of the Thurgau Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Stadtmusik Altstätten, and the Musikgesellschaft Harmonie Appenzell. Over the course of his career, Zwick has conducted numerous orchestras both in Switzerland and abroad. These include the Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra, the Allegra Festival Orchestra Sofia, the Joseph Haydn Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the Wind Ensemble Helicon, the Filarmonica Tîrgu Mureș, the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Air Force, the National Radio Chamber Orchestra Romania, the Orchestra of the State Opera Varna, the Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra Szeged, among many others.
A milestone in his career came in the summer of 2025, when he won First Prize at the prestigious international conducting competition "Wiener Schule" in Vienna.
With a broad artistic profile and a strong commitment to nurturing the next generation, Benjamin Zwick is dedicated to inspiring young people and sharing his passion for music with audiences worldwide.
